"Compassionate Leadership Delivered with Grit & Grace"
Republican Senator, Lisa Seminara looks forward to continuing to work hard representing Connecticut’s 8th Senate District with "grit and grace." Lisa serves as the Deputy Leader of the Connecticut Senate Republican Caucus and is the Ranking Senator on the Aging Committee, Human Services Committee, and the Committee on Children. She also sits on the Education Committee. Lisa has been recognized for excellence and service by many organizations including CT Business and Industry, being named Legislator of the Year by the Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home, and receiving the ARC Angel Award from The ARC of Connecticut.
Lisa stays actively engaged and intently listens to the people in her district. She has fought vigorously to make CT more affordable by adhering to fiscally responsible policies. She works on behalf of senior citizens, advocates for veterans, and protects vital human services for our most vulnerable residents. She supports law enforcement and continues to work collaboratively with colleagues from both parties to improve the quality of life for everyone in the state.
Lisa was the first in her family to earn a college degree, graduating with honors from St. John’s University and later earning a master’s degree from Columbia University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a dedicated long-term community servant, having served on the Avon Board of Education, and founding the Avon Special Education Parent Teacher Association. She continues to volunteer for a variety of impactful task forces, working groups and charities.
Lisa married her husband Nick and moved to the area 30 years ago. They have three children – Martina, Madelyn, and Nicholas.
